Ive noticed that some of the most vicious and most replied forums are to ones that involve an argument between people of faith and people who seem to either not believe in a god par say or fancy themselves a redefinist. As someone who used to be a man of god I can say that any attacks to them or their god will do nothing but reaffirm their beliefs, as they are taught to do in the basic instruction before leaving earth, ie the bible. They are probably going to continue to argue because they fancy the idea of being a martyr but don't want to actually die in the process. So instead they troll the Internet for people like us to argue with to make themselves feel like they are doing gods work by quoting scripture and proclaiming that their belief is the one and only belief. That is a huge part of the reason that I joined OSR, because here everything can co exsist except the people apparently. As long as religion, as religion is currently defined, exsists there will always be those who will staunchly disagree with us. But what is the difference between them and us? We actually want to co exsist. Christians Muslims Jews mormons all preach that their god is the only god. Inevitably this will lead to conflict among the religions and even races. So in conclusion I would like to hear if I am wrong about you people of faith. Just remember we are on the Internet, the safest of places to argue with someone but that doesn't mean we can't be civil. Please try to keep the scripture quotes to a minimal. I've read the whole bible many times and I even attended a Christian college before I dropped out so I know all the stories and I don't need to hear them all again.

I agree.  We have learned to use our religious beliefs like clubs to beat others and defend our God against the false ideas of others - as if God needs us to defend Her.

It is not just limited to Christianity.

I would apply a much harsher criticism. For the most part, such adherents who are unwilling to give up their subjective, temporary or crackpot ideas are for the most part uninteresting and unimportant.

Like you say, the arguing makes their life more interesting, without it, their lives are voids. Even being a crazy crackpot is worse than being unseen and lacking in attention. Some just plain enjoy the attention of being weird.

It also seems to be that many so called religions are really just methods of domination, the domination of others, starting with mental domination. They are little better than methods of domination, simply seemingly logical extensions that tie people up and, again like you say, when that is not enough, they just stone others with ad hoc quotes rather than engage in discussion.

For such types, it is really just all about power; the acquisition and maintenance of it.

Engaging others in impossible to win, conflictual arguments is just another way of sucking their power away from them.
