I understand that the removal of sin does not take place through the accumulation of good deeds.  Engaging in sinful action is not counterbalanced by rightful action.

That is good...very good... to see and understand that, for many people do not.  But to say there was much mankind was not ready to understand 2000 years ago, may not at all be accurate...we were not there.  Looking into the future from then, they may have said the same of us, that 2000 years from now, mankind may not be ready to understand things.  Who are we to say?  And to say, "as we move into sould consciousness" may not be accurate either.  It may be used as an excuse to obviate the truth of the more direct question..."Are you (any and all of us) still in sin?"

To think "soul conciousness" is something new is ridiculous.

For as long as man has promoted religion soul consciousness has existed. The concept of wrestling not against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickedness in high places, is an example of soul consciousness.

We make our spiritual decisions in the high place of our souls and then bring that consciousness into the physical arena of existence by our actions.

It is not what goes into a man that makes him unclean, but how he himself expresses it.

If one looks at a woman with lust in his heart/soul he is already guilty of adultery, the action of course brings that adultery into physical manifestation of a spirit  or soul consciousness.

Every physical expression is and indication of the condition of ones soul consciousness.

Paul in his letter to the Romans expressed the struggle in ones soul that causes one to express a sinful action that he does not really want to do... but sin within him causes him to do that which he does not want to do.

How can we be free from this struggle? It is by overcoming the fear that stops us from doing what we really want to do. How do we overcome that fear, with faith, where do we get that faith? Faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God. What is the word of God? The Spirit of Truth and Righteousness. So first we must hear and believe by faith the spirit of truth and righteousness, and then we will do good works. Doing good works does not earn salvation, Doing good works is the evidence of salvation. But religious people as Jesus pointed out try to get into heaven through the back door, doing good works in public to earn praise, Jesus said they already have their reward and will not be rewarded by God for what they have been payed for by people.

So somewhere up there is the point that one must do the right thing because  their spiritual condition or soul consciousness, tells them it is the right thing to do. This is not to be confused with 'religion'.

You are correct - doug.  I make an assumption that there is much mankind was not ready to understand 2000 years ago.  More specifically, I assume that the notion of "The Individual", as we know and express it, is a relatively recent innovation.  I may be wrong but I do not assume that "The Individual" was a commonly recognized (understood) ideal then, as it is now.  Individuality is considered a sacred right in our culture.  It is societal recognition of the individual which very much opens the door for individual recognition of the self outside the confines of myth and superstition.  Yes, individuals have always existed on this planet but never on the scale afforded at this point in time - where people like us can come to a place like this and express,as well as, appreciate our individual differences.  Is that not why we are here?

Not sure I see how your comments relate to what doug and I were discussing.

So no one mentioned "soul consciousness"? I mean the very topic "misunderstanding god" suggests that for the millenia of mans awareness God has not been able to make himself understood by man.  That man has not been conscious of his eternal connection to God through his soul consciousness or his spiritual connection to the conceot of the spirit of truth and righteouness.
