What's the difference between an Islamic terrorist being told that martyrdom would bring reward in heaven and Christian crusaders who, 1000 years ago, were promised absolution from sin if they died liberating Jerusalem from the Saracens.

There are and, for now, always will be those who selfishly use religion to divide and separate.  There were people, even on this site, who have been intent on convincing me and other that, centuries ago, the prophet Mohammed was a pedophile and others that the prophet Jesus walked on water.  Misinformation can be a powerful weapon. Religious misinformation, under the guise of either opinion or absolute spiritual knowledge is an incendiary sin.

On September 11, 2012 (yesterday), Islamic militant extremists in 2 countries attacked American embassies.  In Libya, the attack resulted in the deaths of 4.  But why?  Because someone called prophet Mohammed a pedophile?  Who would do such a thing and why.

The news coverage on recent events has been intriguing. I watch CBC (Canadian), CNN (American) and BBC (British).  CBC gave the Libyan attack very little prominence.  BBC reported breaking information on a number of items well before CNN and CNN seems to have done little to investigate or report on the film, released, last July, on the internet and intended to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.  However, Mitt Romney was quick to support the right to freedom of speech that allow Sam Basile to author, direct and publish his now notorious film.

Who is Sam Basile?   Is he an American Christian Fundamentalist or perhaps he is something else simply stirring up trouble on behalf of others and then hiding under the cover of Religious Freedom of Speech?

Where is Religious Tolerance?

Does Freedom of Speech protect one's right to cry fire in a crowded theater?
Is inciting unrest or conflict guaranteed within Western Cultures.

Sam Basile is currently in hiding.  From who or what - extremists or law agencies?

The good news here is that the Christian Fundamentalists who would insult and demean those of other religions have seemingly vacated this site - finally retreating away from civility and well reasoned logic.

In this case, the fact is that the vast majority of Libyans condemn the acts of violence that took place yesterday and the majority of Westerners condemn Sam Basile for his incendiary film and may he hide in peace.
