Oh by the "Way" the bible is overflowing with parodies and tales, dreams, visions, monsters galore, (look at Leviathan in Job, fiery chariots in Ezekiel, four headed divinities, Armageddon's depending on ones pointy headed points of view, all inserted to sharpen your wits and awaken you not to induce your sleep...you are already asleep...why go any deeper...like , and his addiction to Whoppers

It seems to me as you save that Jesus taught by allegory and metaphors and thus his disciples would probably think and write in much the same way. Considering the messages to the churches, John is speaking to various “believers” and their attitudes and practices, in light of the spirit and teachings of Christ. All of us as believers exhibit many of these same attitudes even if we are now scattered around the world. So this is how I see it. The letters to the churches are actually letters to individuals such as you and I who read them.

Ephesus
This letter is to christians who have been Christians even through persecution, but are not as faithful as they once were, and give into temptation too readily or fudge on things they know they should not.

Smyrna This letter is for christians who have not yet suffered much persecution yet as being a “Christian” was popular or that in their lives have not been yet tested as to their faith but that testing is to come.

Pergamum This letter is to christians who think they are doing what God wishes them to do but are actually following false doctrine instead of the teachings of Christ. (Muslims come to mind)

Thyatira This letter is to christians who go to church faithfully and follow the teachings and spirit of Christ but are attending a church denomination which does not practice what it preaches.(Catholics come to mind)

Sardis This letter is to christians who treat church like a social club and do not know the Spirit of Christ but have not yet sunken to a depth that they cannot be revived.

Philadelphia This letter is to christians who refer to Christ as their Saviour but do and teach what they know is wrong.

Laodicea This letter is to rich Christians who donate money to worthy causes and are oh so politically correct in public but hide the evil things they do.

Understand this, what ever I suggest or perceive  of other people, I realize is more often than not just a reflection of myself.

For example as much as I see self righteousness in others, I also so it in myself. Such faults are the things the Spirit of Christ deals with in me and I pray daily for my own salvation from these faults. However having said that I trust God that he is faithful and just and when I confess my sin, He will forgive me my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. So I throw myself un the mercy of God.

 By the way, thanks for the tongues reminder, I should spend more time praying in tongues as I do not know what to pray  for consciously and I should allow the Spirit to give utterance of those thiings.

good thoughts..the only "church" of the seven churches Jesus is not critical of is the church of Philadelphia, the church of brotherly love..the rest are under His eyes of judgement and scrutiny..and many are doomed already to Babylon (which has been rebuilt ready and waiting for the soon  coming Antichrist to occupy..more about that later.)  google modern babylon.

What are your thoughts about chapter 12 of the book of revelations...the Bride of Christ..clothed in the sun?

(according to Robert that represents yet another baptism..that of fire achieved by learning how and why looking at the sun is that new (very ancient type of baptism..Jesus taught top the disciples and they taught to the original church...no restored.

 In the entire bible..the Lord says He will do a “new thing” only twice...

Isaiah 43:19- See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

Jeremiah 31:22 How long will you wander, O unfaithful daughter?  (the church), The Lord will create a new thing on earth-- a woman will compass (surround)  a man."

     Huh?  A woman will surround a man?  What kind of talk is that?  How can a woman surround a man you may wonder.  Here’s how, .speaking in biblical ways as types, symbols, and literally, all in one fell swoop.

 

 Revelation 12:1-2

      1 A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.   She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.

Romans 8:22 - We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

Galatians  4:19 My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you,

     Now in the words of the Master Himself  

Mt. 13:8 -Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.

Mt 24:8 - All these are the beginning of birth pains.

    

      The Church itself self must now be “Born Again.”.says the Holy Bible, the Word of the Lord,. because she has fallen asleep, and has grown anemic, slothful, and ultimately “unfaithful”.  She has failed in many ways to adhere to the Full Gospel, the bible in its entirety, and as a result  not managed to keep herself pure and in conformity to His entire Word, in her growth and  development throughout history.  Somewhere along the way she has been misguided by the many leaders and teachers that have wittingly or unwittingly fed her incorrectly and  who have failed to pick the best and most nutritious fruit from Gods garden, the Holy Scriptures and bountiful bountiful nature, the amazing resource He has given us to teach, edify, inspire, and satisfy the deep longing all born again Christians has to intimately and personally  unite with the Godhead, the fountainhead of pure undiluted, daily manna and wellspring from on high, the Most Holy and Absolute El Sahddai.the breasted one.  

We as “born again” or “born from above” Christians are all familiar with the basic assumption that we are the “body” of Christ, who is the head.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 (King James Version)

       12  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

 13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

 14  For the body is not one member, but many.

I missed that was referring to them "which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie;"

As Robert  said these christians are the ones who are kept "from the hour of temptation"..
