Soul dies every day then how it is eternal?
A devotee asked a question “You have said that in the Gita, the Lord said that awareness is born daily and perishes daily. But how come some people are pointing out that in the same Gita it is told that the soul is eternal?”
Swami replied: There are two theories about the soul. In one theory the soul is eternal. This is correct because if you take the soul (awareness) as inert energy in its basic form, energy is eternal. The eternality of the soul is proved in deep sleep since life continues due to the existence of inert energy as the heat in the human body. Due to this inert energy alone, all the systems in the human body are functioning and the life is maintained in the body. Deep sleep indicates the co-functioning of two systems which are food (Annamaya Kosha) as body and respiration (Pranamaya Kosha) to produce inert energy by the oxidation of food.
In the same deep sleep, the awareness has perished. Even the last trace of awareness, which is self awareness (awareness of awareness itself) as seen in meditation, disappears in deep sleep. Therefore, you have to agree that the awareness is transformed into its basic content which is inert energy. In other words you can say that the awareness has disappeared or is destroyed. When the golden ornament is converted into a lump of gold, you can say that the ornament is destroyed. When you awake, the awareness is reborn. This is our experience and cannot be disputed.
If you view the soul as inert energy, it is eternal as evident from deep sleep. If you view the soul as awareness, it is born daily and dies daily. Both these are two angles of view about the soul. It is like the dualistic nature of an electron which is a particle as well as a wave. The electron exhibits the properties of both in different contexts but not in the same context. Similarly, the soul exhibits both the properties in different contexts. Both cannot co-exist in the same context because both contradict each other. The Lord mentioned both the theories of the soul in the Gita and it is very important to note that the Lord did not condemn any theory. The two words used in this context which are ‘Atha’ and ‘Cha’ mean that both are equally valid theories in their own contexts (Athachainam…—Gita).

You know, life is all about 'living" and the soul or spirit of a man is that place where he developes his style of living.
Jesus came to allow us the ability to change our soul from one that causes us and those around us pain because of its propensity for doing negative , selfish, hurtful things with no consideration for others,
to doing positive , caring , empathetic, loving things considering the feelings and rights and needs of others.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to be able to figure out that a world full of people helping one another would be a much better place than world full of people helping only then selves at the expense of others.
And that pretty much sums up what righteousness is.
Doing what is right as the concept of the golden rule shows that when some one helps you they are doing the right thing according to you.
Doing something that harms someone is doing the wrong thing according to them.
good and evil is relly a very simple concept.
What did Paul say..... do the right thing. Masters treat your slaves right , be good to them\
Slaves do the right thing for your masters.
In our lives we are responsible for others, and we are responsible to others.
Even the president of a company answers to the board of directors .
We are all slaves in a way.
Whether you live in a democracy, a socialist, a communist or a dictatorship, you can still do the right thing.
An aquaintance of mine lived in russia a long time ago and he said whenever you went out you carried two shopping bags. And when you saw a line up you first got in line and then you asked "what are they selling" and if you were lucky enough to get to the fromt before it ran out, you put one in your bag and one in the second bag for your neighbor.
being considerate and obeying the golden rule is righteousness. on a human scale.

In truth, it isn't about good and evil. Its about Godly and ungodly. In the same way as there is no such thing as cold, just the absence of heat... There is Godly perfection, and less...

Jeff
I am not condemning you.
People do things that are against the spirit of this site, but would you do something that is against the spirit of Christ.
Remember, love your enemy, do good to those who despitefully use you.
I am just trying to help you focus on the love of Christ. I told you I do the same thing and I pray for forgiveness and I ask God to forgive me and help me learn to act properly in the future and react improperly less and less until I obey the spirit in all things.

But is it not about helping people accept Gods gift of perfect love so they can share it with others.
Is it not about helping people come to the realization that what they are doing in killing their fellow humans is not in accordance with finding happiness and peace?
Some have this dream that we have just passed through the age of power and that through the internet we have the ability to reach out to our fellow man and learn to think of them as friends and not evil empires that we have to destroy.
Some believe we are indeed going to go through a pole shift and comets and earthquakes that happen on a cyclic nature and wipe out civilizations on a regular basis. We are going to need compassion and love of one another to survive and money and power will be the least of our concerns, as the oceans shift and the planet mantel upheaves once again.
Oh sinner man where are you going to run to , those who have built their lives on money and power , what will they have? Where will they go when their worldly wealth is destroyed and they need to survive on the spirit of truth and righteousness and good will on earth toward men?
Permalink Reply by Kernel John on August 13, 2011 at 4:38pm When asleep, awareness disappears into the discrete energy source called unimaginable soul or self. I am a particle of eternal energy- neither created nor destroyed. Eternal.
You, on the other hand, choose an image of SELF which is limited by time and space and so you are this. This is thinking which, though new to many, manifests in Copper Age. Your understandings are not new. Are they? They go back 1000 years - do they not? Or are these your personal thoughts and inspirations?
Tell us more datta swami.

Are you not typing on a keyboard with fingers? Do you not have a 'body' that is not so eternal and will die and turn to dust?
while this physical world is just a perception of reality, it is only by faith that one can perceive of an eternal soul.

Permalink Reply by Kernel John on August 13, 2011 at 9:01pm The unimaginable Point of Energy into which the energy of awareness escapes is always the same - it is this - the soul.
Awareness IS soul. Without that which we affirm as soul, Awareness is limited accordingly.
This is, amongst other things, the manner in which God is expressed (expresses himself) - and this (it) is through me and this (it) is through you. . . . THROUGH SOULS.
Some suggest, we are ultimately co-creators. Does this sound impossible to you. Is it incompatible with your framework?
Speak on swami. Does the Gita tell us we are finite or constrained and if so by Brahmin? And if so, can you affirm that your source as correct? How old is your source? Is it newer better and better than, for example the OT?
