Swedenborg about Free Will

The matter is, as our minister would say, a dilemma, or a case of "both things being true."  The Lord is in complete control and created humans with free will. It is the free will which makes us…Read More

Swedenborg _ Who is Jesus
3 Replies

The most important idea for anyone to grasp clearly is the idea of our God, because this governs and controls all our thinking and motivation, whether we realize it or not. We should love the Lord…Read More

Intro

Hello everyone, this seems to be the place to present questions and possibly new thoughts.
To most, the following will certainly be very new.

What I've heard and would like to repeat here is 'If you don’t believe you’ll believe anything. Even that evolution is our source.'
What happens to the human spirit can sometimes be illustrated with what happens to the human body. Malnutrician, for instance, can happen to the body but also to the spirit. In that state a body will eat “anything”, during the last war people have eaten things that killed them; it’s amazing what an of truth deprived mind will believe.

The believe system I subscribe to is based on what someone wrote about 250 years ago. Because of that we are often referred to as 'Swedenborgians'. Another one is 'New Church', or 'New Christianity'.
Many of us, however, would like to see what we have (and like to share) as the promised “Second Coming”.

This is just my effort to share, and help those that want to be helped.
If you have any ideas about what the Second Coming should be like, questions or concerns, please let me know. But you may know that the expectations about the First Advent were way off track. In fact the Jews are still waiting for a Messiah. Come to think of it, Christians are still waiting for the Second Coming..

I'll leave this link to my first website, welcome to your thoughts.

Jesus, "Who do you say I am?"

WHO IS JESUS?

Rev. Douglas Taylor

"[Jesus] saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?" (Matthew 16:15).

The Lord addressed this question to the disciples two thousand years ago; but it is an ageless question. It is still relevant, and always will be. The answer we give to the question, "Who is Jesus?" has a profound effect upon our life in this world and to eternity. It is…

Swedenborg and the NDE

Over 250 years ago Swedenborg had much to say about the concept and what is involved with a Near Death Experience.

Has science ignored it, since it seems to be about the spirit, and is now looking because the high interest this is getting in today's world? One outcome seems to suggest that 'no brain activity' does not mean death, it means the 'receiver' is temporarily unavailable. It helps to see the mind as a separate level above, and influencing, the brain. To the point that…

Hi Adrianne, thanks for the feedback on the site and forum. Much appreciated.

Currently we are using the discussion forum to post Belief Modules only because we simply lack a better option at this time. I hope that doesn't discourage you.

However there are some rules in place that should help (and I'm working on getting these more front and center for clarity).

There is a "Conditions for Contribution" area here: http://www.opensourcereligion.net/page/about-the-belief-genome
that you may find helpful.

Yes, by all means show us how Swedenborg might interpret these things.

I'm looking over the http://www.apocalypse-of-john.org.uk site as we speak.  I like what it does and understand why John was speaking in code.  I simply find it difficult to understand why some people here (Robert) continue to speak in code when the truth, from what little I can see is not meant to be complex and confusing.  For me, reading ancient biblical texts that were translated hundreds of years ago, taken from oral stories Aramaic and then written down in greek for people who thought and understood the world in a very different way to our own is a difficult task.  But God provides and easier path.  I am sure there is more than the Bible alone.  Although I understand that for many, the bible is the book and they will look no further - no matter what.  And that's OK.  Limited, but OK.

Hang off on the Link to the Creation Story for now and yes, let's definitely get together for timmies.  I'll email you regarding arrangements.

  Cheers

Yes, I agree that much of what Robert talks about is tenuous from a Christian POV.  Perhaps it''s simply a form of attention seeking behavior.  Anyhow, I'm trying to pull some reasonable themes from his Christian silliness. Perhaps he a little shy to say what's really on his mind.  He certainly a dominant individual - IMHO.

I think that when someone refers to:

  1. The Christian form of yoga
  2. Solar (sun) Gazing is somehow related to Christianity
  3. Crystal Skulls have some link to Jesus.

. . . . I call this type of frivolous speculation Christian silliness.
