Experiencing Time & Space in the Desert

Jewish experience of time is three-dimensional; past and future address to them in the fleeting moment of the present. Of course, like us, they live in the so-called present, but it can envelop a Jew person only if it is interlocked with the other two dimensions. The retrospective mood is one of the major motifs of…

I find it curious that it would be seen as unlikely that Jesus knew of Buddha. As you point out, there nothing much known about Jesus' life. I'm not big on miracles so it's not difficult form me to believe that Jesus did not miraculously or suddenly undertake an exceptional life. In those times, I see the trading networks as equivalent to the internet today - the great purveyor of information. It was the caravans and trade missions that carried no only goods but information and learning. I would be surprised if Buddhist monks did not occasionally pass through Nazareth as attachés interested in giving and receiving information. Alternatively Jesus may have traveled to various schools of learning. Yes, it is also possible he stayed home and learned carpentry. What was the last we heard of young Jesus before he returned to begin his mission?

Did Christ study the teachings of Buddha?
Where did he go when he left the temple rabbis in apparent shame and what did he do for 17 tears?
Did he travel? Where was he going when he left the temple grounds?

Claudia, anyone who is a friend of Redefine GOD is a friend of mine. I, too, am a history buff. My wife, family and I visited Greece in 1972. At www.mta.ca and the Atlantic School of Theology I studied Classical and New Testament Greek. Yes, I can read the Bible in Greek. Religion?--a combination of Christianity and Buddhism.
