Defining Hate Speech

It seems interesting that anything at all can be said specifically against Christians in even the most vile and crude manner and yet if someone merely mentions the vague possibility of the Jewish faith being in err, it is "hate speech" regardless of the manner in which it was given.

Why is that?

Need - The Cause of Good and Bad - Blindness and Clarity

Thesis;

Good is determined by the need. Without need, there can be no good. Need is the problem and good is what leads to the solution of the problem. Good is relative to actual need. And clarity of need is good for all.

Defining Good

In any endeavor, whatever is seen to lead to fulfilling the task without creating greater problems, is perceived as good. If cooking is the endeavor, whatever helps to get the cooking done, as long as it doesn’t take too much… Read More

First Cause - Did You Mean Cause or BEcause?

There is a very common misunderstanding that a "cause" is something that preceded in time.

A cause is a situation. "What causes a leaf to appear green?" "What is the cause for this big box not fitting into that small box?"

A situation can cause an effect of appearance, size, or arrangement and is the result of static logic. Or it CAN also cause a change in the situation, a temporal cause. Due to the situation, an imbalance yields a motion, a change.

The Philosopher Knows and Saving Mankind

Most people do not believe that Mankind needs saving, but that is a large part of why he actually does. He is not responding to actual threats because he is not interested. He is not interested because he does not believe any are real. He knows that he has created illusions of threats so as to spur interest in the directions of his interest and thus believes all threats are but reflections of his own design. Yet the real threats go unattended.

There is one thing that you can do to… Read More

Check out the Considering Using a Wiki topic again. I updated the image. I know we discussed the possible pitfalls of using a wiki, but with MediaWiki we can hire programmers to put in any features we need, plus there are thousands of ready made plugins that do anything you can imagine.

To answer your question...Some ppl take Wicca to be all about casting spells and the like, and in that case I don't practice, I study. Wicca's been the only thing that held to my beliefs instead of telling me what to believe. nature based, compassion based. Do unto others, harm none... Wicca covers a very broad spectrum. I go no father than saying I'm a solitary eclectic; I'm not initiated, never met a coven, but I've been studying for about 12 years, on and off. I have my own belief system and Wicca fits that very comfortably, while leaving me much room to grow and explore. Such as finding my way here... which all started with a weird dream prompting me to look up the word "Kashi" (not the cereal stuff).

A little more regarding our conversation yesterday on getting RG up to snuff. Starting with "just a great idea" can be highly beneficial, and a great example of this is the MyMythos project, which also pretty much has no product, but is now being funded by a very successful group.

If the funded projects for MyMythos do well, then we'll do more and the MyMythos empire will begin to take root. Thus, success.

Of course, many things said here can be misinterpreted. Human language has it's limits, and religion is where those limits affect us the most. I think Religion 2.0 should include among other things an awareness of the limitation of language to define spirituality and expressing it in a religion. If the definition and expression can be adopted by anyone without contradictions or conflicts, I would call that a "true religion". I don't advocate proselytism, yet somehow I feel that a proper education would lead individuals down the path we are forging. On the other hand, some would argue all of this kind of talk is merely a pipe-dream and we are only stroking our own spirtual egos. I for one am curious to see where it goes.

Comment in chat I made after you left:

You make such extravagant claims about the failure of others in the field, then present your cure, then are unwilling to demonstrate it.

I think this comment is quite relevant. If you believe in the debate model so much, why shouldn't be able to play it out a little yourself, gather the results perfect or not, and display the results so people can see what you're getting at?

I don't see why this would be an extravagant proposition.
If you can show us a general idea where the model is heading then we can all see the big picture that you seem to see.

I guess the one's I'm most familar with are the Abrhamic Gods (Abraham by the way, was one of the WORST fathers lol).

It doesn't really matter what God though, as my argument would likely be the same ("God[s] is either bound by logic and has a clear ontology, or lacks logical structure and is therefore chaotic").
