PS Watched the life in the petri dish not only consume the limited food supply and move into a state of starvation but also produce toxins that poisoned the producers. Of course, our planet is a larger system, producing food from the energy source of the sun. Nonetheless, there is an important analogy here.

Paul, I considered at length your last two posts to me, when washing dishes, walking the dogs. Here is my belated response: We are nature. Our actions are nature being. Perhaps this may lead to our destruction as well as the destruction of many other forms of life. After that, nature will continue to exist. The planet will be a planet for long as a planet is long.

I recall in high school biology, observing over some days the process of colonies of bacteria and mold consuming all of the food in their little sealed petri dish - and I thought: that's us on planet Earth.

Better? Worse? Simply is.

Not that I advocate hastening the "end" or recommend doing nothing. There is much to do, in actions great and small.

What evidence do you see of humanity moving towards a greater state of enlightenment? Most of the time, most of the evidence I see is in the opposite direction.

Hi, sincere Paul and welcome. "Christian" refers to such a broad range of folks that it has lost definition except for the worse brands. If only Christ-love were the central motivation and foundation and encompassing actions... we, and the planet, would be in a lot less trouble now.
