Quentin, you hesitated to mention that you had any kind of 'religion'. May I ask:

In the minds of most people, is 'religion' a dirty word?

If so, why is this so?

BTW, even though I think of myself as a moderate user of alcohol--I love having a beer, or some wine with dinner--I have been a great supporter of the 12-Step, AA-program ever since I heard of it, in 1955. At the time, I was a young minister of 25 at Tide Head, NB., Canada--a small community near Campbellton, NB, Canada. Quite an adventure.

I accompanied several people, in this rural area I served, to the AA meeting in the town near by.

Me? I think of myself as a frustration-aholic, and a rage-aholic.

I find it very difficult to tolerate any kind of stupid behaviour--including my own behaviour.

Yes, I am working on it--one day at a time.

This reminds me of the following:

What is the difference between ignorance and stupidity?

The answer is: Ignorance is treatable. (LOL)

Here's an idea: Why not start a SINNERS ANONYMOUS? Then we could all join.

IMO, this is what a truly spiritually-minded church is all about.

We could do so here. Or we could link with  www.flfcanada.com or www.lindsayking.ca

Hi Quentin, welcome aboard.

You won't be alone here as there are at least 2 other 12 Step people who are regular participants .  I'm not familiar with the 12 Step program myself but I find it curious how one of the 12 step people credits Jesus with getting him back on track and the other got clean (I believe) by realizing his own inner resources and making some personal commitments to himself.

As for learning what other members think/feel about spirituality you will find a range of view points here.  As for me?  I've come to see religion as a creation of mankind done in vain effort to get back to his original state in paradise - so to speak.  Spirituality, on the other hand, is a personal expression of ones self in relationship to the Source - whatever that may be.

Anyway, glad you're here.  Feel free to jump in.
