Mormonism: Dispensations, the Millennium and Beyond

Mormons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The term “latter-day” is significant in two ways. As we read in the King James version of the Bible, Paul addressed many of his letters to “the saints,” meaning members of Christ's Church. We use the term in that same sense, as a generic descriptor of members of the Church today. “Latter-day” makes a distinction that we are members of the same Church as the former-day saints in the 1st Century. The term “latter-day” also…See More

Mormonism: Establishing Zion

In addition to the attention each Mormon gives to his own personal salvation, there is a duty we shoulder to build up the kingdom of God on Earth.  This is a mission of social justice that may have interest to many on this forum. Most Christians might associate the term Zion with Jerusalem and most modern observers associate the term with the political movement to establish a home for the descendants of Israel.  To Mormons, Zion has deep meanings that are rooted in modern-day revelations. The…See More

Mormonism: The Pre-mortal Existence of Humans

There are three questions that every person asks:Where did I come from? Why am I here?Where am I going when I die? This belief module discusses the first of these questions.  Mormonism is unique in Christianity due to its belief that man is an eternal, uncreated being.  Intelligence cannot be created.  It is eternal.  We have always existed and we will always exist.Mormon scripture, which includes the Bible, and the latter-day revelations given to modern prophets give us some partial insights…See More

The Mormon Concept of Deity

I've been invited to contribute some precepts of essential latter-day saint beliefs in the "Belief Modules" section.  I think the most systematic way to go about this is to give a personal insights into the 13 Articles of Faith.  These articles are not a creed, because they are not restrictive in nature, only descriptive.  They were not devised by a council as a statement of orthodoxy, but instead were just a "laundry list" of our key beliefs that were penned by our founder in reply to a…See More

Samuel, great work.  Did you know that you have a personal "Blog" area where you can post additional information.  For example, if your blog area had an single index of the main the Belief Modules you have assembled, people like me you access links to each module from one single post.  If we all took this approach, you could also come to my page to access direct links to the modules I had posted.

I don't know how computer literate you are but keeping an updated central index would be a relatively easy cut & paste exercise  - if you might be interested - in the future. For example:

1/ The Mormon Concept of Deity

2/ The Mormon Concept of Personal Accountability

3/ The Mormon Concept of the Atonement

4/ Mormonism's First Principles and Ordinances

5/ Mormon Beliefs on Authority

6/ Mormonism - Church Organization

7/ Mormonism and Miracles

8/ Mormonism - Open Canon of Scripture

9/ Mormonism and the Gathering of Israel

10/ Mormonism - General Tenets

11/ The Mormon Concept of Agency

As you can see these links could be rather helpful if people wanted to look at the Mormon Collection of Beliefs.

Cheers
