Hi, there thought i would post another blog.

so its says somewhere in the bible that god created us in his( or her) image.

so shouldn't we have a good idea of what that would look like?

The more accurate translation is "Ahdam was made after the pattern of God." ("image" is misleading)

If you ask "What is the pattern of God", you have asked for the true name of God - forbidden to be spoken - and for a strong reason.

Openly discussing the name of God causes serious trouble, much in the same way as openly discussing how to make a nuclear weapon out of common household supplies. When Moses brought the word into Egypt, it wasn't a problem until he spread it into their waters. Even Moses had to hide from the aftermath.

"Don't talk about it. Pretend it doesn't exist. Discuss other things instead. Promote ambiguity.... And maybe it will get covered in the chaos and go away."

..or perhaps just "Redefine" the word and all will stop looking in the right places.

Hey Dillon,
If we're created in the image of God, then why is it not easy to know what God looks like? Great question, but difficult to answer in the way it was posed. How about this. If I am created in the image (or pattern) of God, then who/what am I? The typical response to this then goes on to ask, "Am I physical or metaphysical - am I my body or am I a soul?" Most spiritual frameworks describe "The I Am" as metaphysical (eternal, unique, indivisible) - I am a Soul. If I am a soul and created in the image of God, then is it possible that God can also be thought of as being a soul? If I am a soul and God is a soul, then is it possible to have the experience of a relationship. Of course it is. It is perhaps easiest to think of God as the Father or Mother - whichever makes you feel more comfortable. Meditation is a way often used to develop a connection or relationship with God.

Ok i guess 'image' isn't that accurate. But thanks for the sympathy guys. :) if i could think of a word(y) that describes what 'seeing' something in sound, smell, sight, touch, and taste would be, it would be synonymous to (infinity) x (beautiful)=y

@davidbgoode People don't rely on definition to believe in a God, they rely on belief. OSR promotes exploration and clarity of beliefs.

As interesting as the idea of Open Source Religion is, why? If God can be defined by us, why have one at all? http://t.co/AE0FCIwJAa
